Appealing Your Case
At Warnken, LLC we handle direct appeals to and from courts at state court and federal court levels, including Supreme Court. Most of the appeals cases we take are cases in which we did not serve as trial counsel; 90 percent of our appeals and appellate law clients seek our counsel to give their case the fresh eyes, careful legal scrutiny, and strong representation they deserve in appellate court.
Our appeals and appellate law attorneys provide vigorous defense to clients in cases involving criminal appeals for charges of rape, murder, and drug dealing. Our appeals attorneys also handle civil appeals involving personal injury and wrongful termination.
Our Success in Appeals
Since our founding in 1993, our law firm has appealed more than 175 cases, including appellate briefs and appellate oral arguments. In 1995, one of our appeals cases - a reversed murder conviction - became the subject of the television film "Double Jeopardy."
Professor Byron L. Warnken has been appointed counselor of record in cases heard by the United States Supreme Court, which hears a limited number of cases each year. Our law firm has also filed amicus (friend of the court) briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, including one on the Rodney King case.
